I GOT INTO UNIVERSITY!
Ahh, I am so excited.
December 1st of 2014 I applied through QTAC to help me get a spot into Griffith University. I didn't think much of it after that. On January 15th of 2015, I remembered that I would hear back from QTAC. I went on my email account and checked Junk mail and saw an email with the title "Congratulations from QTAC. Respond now!" I was shocked. I didn't have high hopes that I would get accepted knowing that there are so many other people who would get rejected.
I completed a Diploma in 2012, and if I didn't do that course, I would have had no hope at all to get into university. My OP score from Grade 12 was too low unfortunately. I didn't try very hard at school, (which I will go into further in another post for my 2015 goals)
I responded to the email straight away and enrolled into Griffith. I was so very happy and shocked. I had a silly grin on my face for hours on end. I am enrolled as a full time student studying Bachelor of Business majoring in Event Management. I'm still going to try hard to get into the industry as hard as it is. Its crazy to think that I am a student again after so many years. I don't think I remember the proper way to write an essay. How embarrassing!
But because I got accepted into the second round, first round are all the current graduated Grade 12s, when it came to choosing my classes, a majority of the back to back classes were full. You might think that I am crazy and I'm most likely going to regret this later, but I have chosen to do 5 classes for semester one.
Classes that I am doing are;
- Evaluation and Impact Assessment
- Facility and Venue Management
- Event Marketing and Sponsorship
- Introduction to Marketing
- Introduction to Event Management
Even though I did do the diploma in 2012 which can cut a year off my bachelor, I rather relearn everything the right way than assuming. I wasn't so excited when I did marketing so I'm hoping doing intro to marketing will motivate, inspire and excite me. I know one class I'm not looking forward to which isn't in the first semester is Accounting. I'm not very good at math. I'm pretty happy with my timetable. All the classes are during the day which will still allow me to work in the mornings before class or at night. The university I am enrolled in is right across the road from my work which cannot get anymore convenient then that.
I made a mini timetable for my Kikki K planner.
My first semester begins in the first week of March. I am so excited but yet so nervous and anxious. I remember last week I was awake at 1am with anxiety worrying about it and stressing out. My concerns are getting lost. The campus is huge! I did some more research and have a map of all the buildings and have a better understanding of what all the numbers mean on my timetable. And then I started stressing that I'm not going to make any friends and it just got out of proportion from there.
I have orientation day on the 25th February 2015. A day of meeting the professors, key academic admin staff, learning skills, etc. Best part of the day, free lunch haha. I don't think I will be joining any clubs. I sussed out the clubs they have at university and I don't think I would be suited to any of them. I have a feeling that I will be more to myself and not associate with a lot of university students at the beginning. Before orientation day, I have to go into the campus and get my student I.D card to avoid the mad rush on the day and also get a parking permit. Its going to cost me $250ish for the whole year but having it just in case will allow me to park wherever on campus.
I am thinking of writing up a post on my Kikki K planner or doing a "Plan With Me" post. I have been obsessed watching videos like that on youtube, finding new ways to decorate.
How is your year looking up?
