What a Night! First World Problems

Well this is a first for me to write a post from my phone.

What a night!

A huge storm came through brisbane. Luckily I didn't get hit by it. Some of my friends on my personal facebook were posting photos and videos of the storm in the city. It was crazy. When I get home I will find a way to post the video of one of them on here. The wind and the rain, one of my friends actually got hit by a hail stone I think.

That being said, I was on my way to work when all of this was occurring. Now usually I know how long it normally takes for me to get to work from certain areas. At this area, I knew it would take me less then 15 mins to get to work. So I'm thinking to myself, yeah alright I will get to work in plenty of time. Without any knowledge that a huge hold up was just up the highway from where I was. Two highways from what I could see had huge traffic jams. Remember how I said it would only take me 15 mins to get to work from that point? Well it ended up taking me an hour and 15 minutes to get to work. In stop go traffic. Omg! I was going crazy. I called my friend up and she told me that a transformer exploded either from getting hit by the lightening or a car hit it. One petrol station was closed for this reason. Now that was very bad news for me. I had my petrol light on and my car was desperate to be filled up. In the situation all you can really do is laugh. No point getting angry and upset. So that's just what I did. I laughed. I then got in contact with my supervisor after a few attempts and asked what --

--just got some petrol--

Okay so I asked what was going on and she said that we have no power at work. By this point I'm like I'm still going to work. Finally I rocked up to work and it's all pitch black and all the guests from the motel rooms are in the restaurant having drinks. That's all we can give to them. Serving by candlelight and torches. We also had a 3 course dinner function for 70 people. Apparently the power wasn't going to come back on till 730 then it changed to 830 and now it's not till 2am. One of the supervisors sent me and another person home. Luckily I just made it to the petrol station before I don't know what I would do if I broke down in the middle of traffic. Oh yea and now I'm stuck in traffic. Let's see how long this will take me to get home. It's alright I have Doritos and a bottle of water to snack on. Would have been better if it was redbull. I asked the guy behind the counter at the petrol station if he knew what was going on. He said one of the main roads has no power and is flooded and something about rolled trucks. What a night hey. Steph all you can do is laugh. Just laugh it off.

I just saw a tree on top of a car. The car is okay the tree is not.

Right now it is 7.55pm.
- 8.25pm And reached the area where the traffic started on the way. Not bad.

Update (11.22am Friday): Went into work this morning and the power was still out. Now the estimate time is at 2pm. We served cereal and fruit to guests. I can tell you it was a long morning.

Summer Vibes & Essentials ☀

I look ridiculous right now. I am about to write a post about summer and sunshine and its currently storming.

Hey. Hows it going?

It is getting closer to christmas which means closer to summer here in Australia. To get in the spirit for all my southern hemisphere followers, I have assembled a few inspirational pointers to get us all excited for the season.

1// Summer is approaching which means longer days and warmer nights

2// Beach parties. Bonfire parties. Any sort of outdoor event. Slap on your shoes and shorts and live the night away. And preferably a top of some sort, a bikini.

3// Festivals. We have Soundwave coming up in February in Melbourne.

4// Watermelon. I think watermelon is the perfect summer fruit along side mangoes. Omg I love mangoes! The fruit is so juicy and refreshing and you can make shakes, punches, smoothies or anything that has the ingredient in it.

5// Bike rides. Along side a beach = perfection. Theres nothing better then the feeling of the wind whipping through your hair, the taste of your hair in your mouth that when you stop you have a crows nest on top of your head, as you ride along. You don't even have to be a pro at bike riding. As long as you can control the direction your riding, balance, and stop, you are all good to go.

6// Sunglasses. Without them you would be blind from that hot summer sun. Plus its a super cute accessory.

7// Beach. I am so excited to be able to go down to the beach and have a swim in the ocean without freezing. Personally, I love australian beaches. We have amazing "sand" - is that too weird to say? - and surf. I love that while the temperature is really hot the surf is warm also. Unlike in Europe, when I went there in June and I basically froze my nipples off from the ice cold water in hot weather. No logic.

8// Sunscreen. Or is it sun cream? I had to learn this the hard way. I went to the beach couple of weeks back and it was one of those breezy days. I couldn't physically feel how hot the sun was because of the wind that I may have accidentally put sunscreen on my back and later came back home looking like a legit back lobster. My front was fine. Lesson learnt. Remember to slip slop and slap.

9// Lip Balm. I hate having chapped dry lips so I use maybelline baby lips continuously. The baby lips are so moisturising plus they smell pretty good.

These are a few of my top vibes and essentials. There a probably a whole heap more of essentials I have skipped out on.

If you would like to know my beauty essentials for summer please comment below. For my northern hemisphere followers, what are your winter essentials? What are you looking forward to the most in December?

P.S Do my posts look better with a larger font size?

How Is It That Time Of Year..Again?

It is currently just after 11.30pm and I have been thinking a lot about the past year. First off, I cannot believe we are already in November. It is almost christmas and I have to admit I have done zero --zip zilch-- of shopping.

Lets take it back and remember the good 'ol times.
◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄ ◄◄

"...this time last year I was so excited to be going overseas in 7 months!"
"...I spent my summer at home and no time at the beach"
"...I made my ritual trifle for christmas"
"...I worked my butt off in March when my colleague went overseas"
"...I celebrated my birthday on an airplane"
"...I had zero sleep the night before my birthday also being the day I boarded my flight"
"...I had a jumble of nerves and emotions"
"...I flew overseas BY MYSELF and back safely"
"...I was actually in Paris and walked on the steps of the eiffel tower" (got a kiss right in front of it)
"...I was in 15 different countries over the 5 week span"
"...I saw my grandparents again for the first time in 4 years"
"...I have been back in the country for 4 months"

That's a lot of facts that happened in the year that flew by so quickly. I believe the years are just going to go by faster and faster the older you get. My theory behind it is because you have more shit to get done during the day.

Lets take a break and have a kit kat

Kikki K Time Planner ☆

I've never used one before but I have been obsessed with planners lately.
I've been keeping my eye on the Erin Condren planners and been adding it to my shopping cart online, numerous of times. I love how you're able to customise it to your liking and been looking at countless videos on youtube how others have customised theirs.

But..
Knew there was a but in there somewhere, am I right?

But since the planner is from America, shipping price is ridiculously expensive.
Coming to a total of $132. That is excessive just for a book.

After having a quick browse on the internet I came across the company Kikki K and they are Australian. (ships worldwide) Bonus points! I had a quick look on their website and couldn't decide on the size so I decided to go into the store and have a look.

I ended up picking up the large lilac and gold time planner. Isn't it gorgeous?
I love the gold diamonds and detail inside the planner and the elastic band securing the planner together.

As you open the planner up this is what you see. You have access to heaps of pockets on the side as well as a zipper to store any stickers or tabs you might use in your planner. It also came with a "2015 live it love it" card.

The time planner has set tabs whilst the personal planner you can write whatever tabs you like.

This is the spread of the monthly view. I like how it gives you a lot of space to write and can decorate with washi tape and stickers.

I prefer a weekly view spread over a daily spread as it allows you to see whats happening in the week  and it makes planning so much easier. The five days of the week has heaps of room to write in whilst the weekends are split in two.

Bonus tab in the planner is the expenses. I most likely won't be using this section of the planner as I have purchased a Budget Book from the Kikki K line.

Ending with a pad of notepaper at the back to jot down any thoughts or ideas I may think of. Also it comes with a pen loop to attach your pen to.

I'm not quite sure how I am going to decorate my planner but I will definitely do an updated post in the future. The planner is made from real leather and feels sturdy. Additionally, Kikki K supplies monthly and weekly refills for the different size planners, saving you money instead of buying a whole new planner every year.

Will you be buying a planner for next year? How do you like to decorate your planners? Have you tried the Kikki K range before?

Till next time,

The Liebster Award

I was nominated by Erin from Chasing Rubies Chasing Pearls for the Liebster Award. I was so excited when I got nominated. I've seen a few people do this post and now here's my opportunity to help bring small blogs - like myself - into the limelight and gain a bigger community.

Rules:

> Answer the questions that are sent to you
> Nominate 10 bloggers who have under 200 followers on twitter
> Ask them 10 questions of your own
> Notify them that they've been nominated

Erin's Questions
These questions are based on winter and since in Australia we are going into summer, I'm still going to answer the questions anyway.

1. What's your favourite A/W trend?
Coats, scarfs, jeans and boots.

2. Who is your beauty idol?
Oh god, there are so many. I will have to say two, Shaaanxo and Lauren Curtis. Also one is Australian and the other is New Zealand. They offer good makeup tutorials and beginners guide videos.

3. If you were to win the lottery and became a multi-millionaire what would you do with it?
What wouldn't I do? No but seriously, I would pay off my car, buy a house and take my family on an exotic holiday on an island somewhere and then save up or invest. And of course buy everything I've always lusted over but couldn't afford.

4. What is your favourite thing about winter/christmas?
Winter I will say cuddling up with a hot cuppa watching movies and cuddles. My favourite thing about christmas is all the food and the gifts. Christmas Day or Boxing Day heading down to the beach and having a fun time. summer christmas for the win!

5. What's your favourite perfume?
The One by Dolce and Gabbana or Euphoria by Calvin Klein.

6. Who is your current favourite blogger?
I'm still finding and discovering more blogs but I seem to relate to Blake's posts a lot. Im also enjoying Nina's posts, she's so funny.

7. What is your dream job?
My ultimate dream job is to run a successful wedding and event planning business.

8. What's your idea of a perfect night in?
Good meal, good movie or book.

9. Favourite lipstick?
I don't own any high end beauty product but the best drugstore product for me is Rimmel London Kate Moss lipsticks. They don't bleed or get in your teeth and they are long wear lasting.

10. Who are your fashion idols?
Good question. I honestly have no idea. I don't really follow any fashion idols to be honest.

My nominations

My Questions to you
1. What fashion style do you have?
2. Where is your next holiday destination?
3. What's one thing you would tell your younger self?
4. What book would you recommend anyone to read?
5. Do you have a life quote you live by?
6. Do you like to dress up or dress down?
7. Where do you get your blog inspiration from?
8. Are you a morning person or a night owl?
9. What have you learnt/loved about blogging so far?
10. Gold or silver?

Thank you Erin for nominating me and I look forward to reading all your responses to my questions.

Happy blogging!

Essie: Bikini So Teeny

I never knew what the hype was all about the Essie nail polishes. When they first made an appearance in Australia, I didn't jump at the chance to buy the first polish I lay my eyes on.

After a while, I decided to give in and purchased Playdate.
It didn't take me long to fall in love with the polish. The shade is such a pretty colour and the consistency and formula is better than other polishes I've tried before. It glides on so smoothly and lasts a while.

The retail price of them in Australia is $16.95 which is a bit expensive.

Today I painted my nails with the bikini so teeny polish. Isn't the colour adorable?

Current Wishlist! Featuring Showpo

I am obsessed with Showpony right now.
If you haven't checked out their website yet, click here!

Their clothing are absolutely adorable and coming into the warmer seasons, I have been going crazy adding items to my shopping cart that I can't pass up.

I haven't been the one to online shop before. I was very cautious about the sizing and the quality. But after purchasing a black dress a few months back, I have been revisiting the website on a daily basis..pretty much.

Cousins Wedding

*All photos next are owned by Showpony

At the moment I am on a lookout for a playsuit. I've always wanted one but I have found it hard to find one that flatters my figure. I am only tiny so trying to find one that fits snuggly.

This one is so cute and girly. I love the fringe on the shorts and the print is super colourful and floral perfect for spring. The back is open so I have to invest in sticky boobs.

This one has wider straps and is also an open back. The shorts flare out a bit more and can't decide between the blue floral or the orange floral.

Lace and white. I am attracting a lot to white this season. I love the way it looks against a tanned skin and the detail on the bottom of the shorts on this playsuit is so cute.

I am really late at jumping on the bandwagon with skorts. It was a love hate relationship and at the moment I am loving the look of them.

Pastel pink skort. I am loving the sorbet colour for this season so anything pastel. I love the criss cross hem design on the front and also being high waisted.

I have been loving to wear skirts this season so far. I enjoy wearing skater style skirts that don't cling to your body. Every time I go out somewhere I tend to always wear a skirt..or the same one every time. I have no colour in my skirt collection..only black..so I have been having my eye on two skirts.

Maxi skirts. I love them. But being the height that I am I need to show some sort of leg. This skirt is perfect as it has two slits on each side to show off the legs. The blue print is geometric and fun.

I have a similar skirt that I purchased from H&M while I was overseas but its in black. The dusty blue shade will bring out more colour in an outfit like seen with this black top.

I see so many people wear kimonos. I think they are so cute for summer as a bathing suit coverup or something to wear out during the day.

Lace and frills. So girly..love it. Will look perfect as a cover up at the beach and looks super light weight.

I am after a basic white crop top and some indie style tops. Styling crop tops with high waisted skirt or shorts will look well put together and the indie style tops is something new I haven't worn before but will be fun to style with.

I love how cute this basic white crop has the slits under the armpits and the lace detailing all along the bottom. Do you see a pattern of lace? With the thin spaghetti straps and how it is styled with the blue skirt I mentioned before.

This top looks pirate style with the wide cuffed sleeves. I like the peek of skin you see on the arms and its something different you can style with white shorts.

Very similar to the last one but once again has lace. I think this one will keep you cool as there isn't a lot of fabric covering the stomach.

Last two items on my shopping cart are pants. I know that here in Australia it is getting warmer...and its only going to get worse but I am planning ahead of thinking of what to wear for autumn.

These pants will be good to wear in spring. I have seen so many people wear this style of pants. I will most likely need to hem them a bit but I definitely want to try and style flared pants.

How perfect are these jeggings. Wine coloured clothing are perfect for autumn and I don't own any jeggings at all. I pretty much live in jeans and leggings. Put two and two together and I can wear both. I also want to purchase a wine coloured skirt for that season as well.

So this completes my current wishlist in my shopping cart on Showpony.com
As you see, a lot of items and no way I would get everything in one go. If you haven't checked out the website yet..go and visit and have a little browse.

Let me know what you like the best out of everything I have shown today.
